5 Days Tour – Bari

The Tour starts in the Airport of your arrival. We will welcome you on board of our comfortable 56 seats Iveco Magelys bus. First stop at the Hotel in Bari or nearby, to drop off luggage and relax after the long trip. It may be possible to have a quick visit of the city during the night, before overnight stay.

The second day bus transfer to visit the Catellana Caves, unique among other cave systems thanks to its three peculiarities: the Grave, the White Cave and the concretions. After the visit of the Caves, bus transfer towards Alberobello, famous for its unique trullo buildings. The trulli of Alberobello have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. After Alberobello, bus transfer to Ostuni, also known as the “White Town” for its white walls and its typically white-painted architecture. The main sights are the Ostuni Cathedral and the Bishop’s Palace, together with a number of palazzi of local aristocratic families.

On the third day, departure towards Lecce. Because of the rich Baroque architectural monuments found in the city, Lecce is commonly nicknamed “The Florence of the South”. The city also has a long traditional affinity with Greek culture going back to its foundation. Visit of the the centre, the Church of the Holy Cross, the Lecce Cathedral, Piazza del Duomo and Piazza Sant’Oronzo. In the afternoon departure towards Otranto and visit of the Aragonese Castle with a moat running along the entire perimeter; the Cathedral with a beautiful mosaic floor, it has a rose window and side portal of 1481. The interior, a basilica with nave and two aisles, contains columns said to come from a temple of Minerva and a fine mosaic pavement of 1166, with interesting representations of the months, Old Testament subjects and others. Fourth day starts with a bus excursion in Locorotondo, one of the most beautiful Italian hamlets. After the visit, bus transfer towards Matera. The town lies in a small canyon carved out by the Gravina River. Known as la città sotterranea (the underground city), its historical centre “Sassi” contains ancient cave dwellings. Sassi, along with the park of the Rupestrian Churches, was awarded World Heritage Site status by UNESCO. In the evening bus transfer to Bari and overnight stay in hotel.

Depending on the flight departure time, possibility to go for an extra excursion in Bari, to have some free time or visit some other sights of the city. After the visit bus transfer to the Airport.
